Fuquay Varina Is The Place To Be This Halloween Weekend!

Fuquay Varina Is One Of The Great Communities Of The Triangle

Downtown Fuquay VarinaOne of the great perks of managing the Avalon Springs neighborhood is getting to know Fuquay Varina.  I will admit that all I knew about Fuquay before Avalon Springs was the interesting sounding name of the town itself.  But one of the m favorite parts about my work at Avalon Springs has been discovering all the great things about Fuquay Varina.  From the downtown shops to the many fun community events, Fuquay Varina is truly a gem of the Triangle.

Fuquay Varina has no shortage of fun events this Halloween weekend.  Thanks to the downtown Fuquay Varina website for all the below information.

Trick or Treat Event Friday October 30, 2009

Halloween Trick or Treating in downtown Fuquay Varina The Fuquay-Varina Revitalization Association is pleased to announce that the merchants on Main and Broad Streets in the    historic shopping district will sponsor a Trick or Treat event on Friday, October 30 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm .  Last year, this event  was a tremendous success because it provided a friendly, safe environment for the little ones to enjoy the holiday. It’s easy to    participate!

Dress-up your lil’ ghosts and goblins, grab a bag and visit the merchants on Main and Broad Streets that display the sign,“Trick  or Treat Here!” The merchants on Main and Broad Streets promise to scare-up lots of treats and fun for your family, so make sure  to visit them on Friday, October 30 between 2:00 – 5:00 pm.

Fuquay Varina Downtown Festival and Chili Cook-Off

Please join us for the 7th Annual Downtown Chili Cook-Off in Historic Downtown Fuquay-Varina on Saturday, October 31st.  The event is part of the Day in Downtown Festival which draws more than 7000 people to downtown for a day of family fun. The Cook-off is becoming quite a Fuquay-Varina tradition!  In 2008, ten chili cook-off teams competed for the $500 grand prize and hundreds of people tasted great chili all day long!  All this good natured, fun, competition helped raise much needed funds for downtown revitalization in the heart of downtown Fuquay-Varina.

In addition to a first place prize of $500, there is a second place prize of $300 and the third place winner will receive $150. All awards are voted on by the public.

If you’re not a cook, but you love to eat chili, come on down to the Downtown Chili Cook-off on Saturday, October 31st from 10:30 am – 3:30 pm and taste, taste, taste!! You can taste all the chili entries for $5.00. We’ll be located in the large parking lot on Main Street near Cooley’s Restaurant.

Stop By Avalon Springs

When you are done trick or treating or before hanging out at the downtown Festival be sure to stop by Avalon Springs which is only minutes from downtown.

2009 Wake County Parade of Homes is upon us!

I Love the Parade Of Homes

Parade of Homes Logo

I have always loved the Parade of Homes time of year.  Along with all the great houses to see and real estate opportunities it means that Fall has arrived.  Fall not only means Parade of Homes but it means football is in full swing, cool crisp fresh air fills the day and nights and pumpkins and apple cider are everywhere!  I love my summer and the beach but not sure if anything beats the fall.

Parade of Homes features many beautiful homes to see!

Parade of Homes features many beautiful homes to see!

Parade of Homes is a great opportunity to spend some time touring the Triangle, checking out new homes and neighborhoods.  Triangle builders like to show off what is new and popular with home building especially trends with floor plans, landscaping, interior features and Energy Star & Green Building benefits.  It is also a fun time to get new decorating ideas.  It is fun to see what paint colors are popular and get ideas on finishing items like window treatments.  The other great part about Parade of Homes is all the different styles of houses and price points you can see.  Maybe you only want to see ranch style homes or you want to focus on homes that are perfect for a growing family.  I always love to spend at least one afternoon walking into the Million Dollar homes to see all the beautiful touches that make these homes breath taking.    Now if you are in the market for a new home then Parade of Homes is the ultimate time to buy because builders are offering parade only specials that can turn out to be very lucrative.  Whether it be builders offering a significant upgrade allowance or help with closing costs, Parade of Homes makes it a great time to buy.  To check out all the 2009 Parade Homes and to search by style, builder, price or neighborhood please check here.

Love Those Carolina Blue Skies at Avalon Springs!

There are so many things I love about North Carolina.  No disrespect to my birth state of Maryland or my husbands birth state of New Jersey but no state for us beats North Carolina.  Many of the things we love are the obvious things like the people, climate, beaches, mountains, cost of living, Colleges and Universities, etc but then other things are the little things!  Well yesterday I was reminded of one of the little things I love about living in North Carolina – The beautiful Carolina Blue Skies!

Yesterday I was working in my new home community of Avalon Springs in Fuquay Varina and the sky looked even more amazing, more vivid and more Carolina Blue then normal.  And the few clouds that did float by looked to be the biggest, puffiest, most comfortable clouds I had ever seen.  Okay so call me cheesy but I literally stopped in my tracks, got my camera out and took a bunch of photos – lucky for you I quickly put them into a iMovie (love my Mac) so that I could share with you.  The movie probably won’t do the sky and clouds justice but you will get the “picture”.

The whole scene and day just reminded me of how much I love North Carolina and those perfect Carolina Blue Sky days!  I really enjoy sharing these type of moments and North Carolina tidbits.  If you have something you love about North Carolina – big or small – then please share it with me as I would love to hear it and I bet so would the folks who live in other parts of the country and are thinking about relocating to North Carolina!
